Although the rules utilize hex grids for combat, square grids can also be used with the same rules.
Talking is a free action, but monologues are not.
Rather than repeat dialogue every player has heard, PCs and NPCs can “Wah” each other information to streamline gameplay.
The “wah” refers to the odd sound made by the teachers in the Charlie Brown television series. Most of the Peanut’s characters usually looked up while the teacher spoke and replied “I understand”.
The fundamental social unit within Ivinian society is the clan, which encompasses more than just immediate family. Clans serve as the central participants in nearly all economic, social, and political endeavors. Membership in a clan is established through birth, marriage, or adoption. Clan sizes vary widely, from small urban groups consisting of approximately five members to influential greatclans with up to 200 members.
The male head of the clan, or valhakar, holds ultimate authority but is typically supported by a council of his fellow clansmen known as the thrangaad. The valhakar is elected for life; however, any member of the thrangaad has the right to challenge him through a contest for leadership. Only members of the thrangaad participate in decision-making related to clan affairs; other clan members are expected to follow directives and may be designated as outcasts or clanless if they do not comply.
