Wieck's Treatise
Written by former German theologian Lawrence Wieck in 1879, and translated into English.
This normal book contains information on vampires, wraiths, demons, and other supernatural occurrences.
Information in the book:
Transylvania has a vampire problem and is possible source.
Entities listed by name: The Death Weaver, Magot, The Old Ones.
Rites for a Catholic exorcism.
This book was found in Jack's house, and is the only book "the Librarian" allowed outside of the estate, leading the PCs to believe someone left a copy inside the house.
Items Some Consider To Be Unnatural
Aunt Hattie's Fix-You-Up
Brewed voodoo concoction made by a Cajun Voodoo Queen. Stored in powdered form, the brew can be mixed with water or liquor (for taste).
It looks like dark blood-red flour; when mixed, the brew is thick and syrupy.
In liquid form, the consistency will remain potent for up to 6 days.
When ingested, target must make a successful Constitution check. If roll is successful, then brew will take immediate effect, though target will feel nausea.
Fix-You-Up supposedly cures poison, snake bite, vampire bite, lycanthropy, magic potions, malaria, coma, infection, tuberculosis, cancer, and flu.
The Book of Names
Thick, weathered, iron-bound tome; covered in fine leather. 20 inches in length, locked with magic glyph; separate amulet is needed to open book.
Text is in Sumerian gibberish; Eye of Agamemnon can translate into English gibberish.
To activate book, the amulet must be worn, and a target name must be spoken aloud. Gibberish will swirl into 6-10 black & white images, showing mystic occurrences which have happened to the person inquired about; 12+ images will appear for major NPCs.
The Eye of Agamemnon
Thin, tear-drop shaped agate; rough one side, flat on the other. About the size of a fist, jagged on edges; appears very fragile.
Glows in the presence of supernatural evil (vampires, spirits, etc.).
Reads objects like magnifying lens, by passing over the object in question.
If used to observe targets, it can see through supernatural disguises, employed by magical items, lycanthropes, vampires, and doppelgangers.
